Q: How does the Heated Eye Pad product differ from a gel pack I would put in the microwave, or a wet warm compress?
A: There are multiple differences.  The other solutions have 4 flaws from our perspective;
    1) They are either too hot or too cold.
    2) They don't stay at a constant temperature over time, and
    3) They do not concentrate the warmth on the eyelid, they heat the entire eye socket and surrounding area.
    4) They are a hassle because of flaws 1-3, so people do not warm their eyelids the proper amount of times for the proper amount of minutes.

Q: What does the Heated Eye Pad do?
A: The Heated Eye Pad warms the meibomian glands inside your eyelids to increase the viscosity of your tears, opens your meibomian glands, and promote vasodilation (to increase the blood flow in your eyelid).

Q: How do I use the Heated Eye Pad?
A: You will wear the Heated Eye Pad for the number of minutes prescribed by your doctor per session. You will use the Heated Eye Pad as frequently as your doctor prescribes.

Q: What is the temperature of the heater?
A: Your eyelid will heat up to approximately 40° C, or 104° F

Q:  Can I wear the Heated Eye Pad for relaxation?
A:  Yes.  Users do wear the Heated Eye Pad for relaxation.

Q: Can I wash the Heated Eye Pad?
A: Yes.  The Heated Eye Pad is designed for wet cleaning.  We recommend an alcohol rub for improved sterility.   Please see the video on how to use the Heated Eye Pad where we demonstrate proper cleaning.

Q: What if I don’t feel the Heated Eye Pad is hot enough?
A: If the Heated Eye Pad is warmer than the temperature of your skin, it is properly working.  If it is cooler than the temperature of your skin, please send the product back to us.  We will replace it with a properly working mask.

Q: What if the Heated Eye Pad feels too hot for me?
A: Please send the Heated Eye Pad back to us.  We will replace it with a properly working mask.

Q: Don’t I need to use wet heat?
A: No.  The meibomian glands that benefit from elevated temperature are located inside your eyelids.  The heat will reach the glands.  Water from a wet warm compress does not go through your skin to the glands, but rather the heat from the wet warm compress goes through your skin.  We encourage you to wet, wash, and clean the eyelid margins per your doctors instructions AFTER warming the meibomian glands.
